Description
These chain mail chausses/leggings are inspired by the type of protection worn by the knights and sergeants in the 12th and 13th centuries. They appear for the first time on William ‘the conqueror’ on the Bayeux Tapestry in 1066. By that time, it was a luxury and that’s not a hazard if only Duke William himself is wearing those chainmail hoses and many of the other Norman knights were not. By the opening of the 12th and 13th centuries, it was becoming standard equipment of a medieval knight perfectly completing the long sleeves knee length hauberk making the knight almost invulnerable.
